I'm Having Trouble Switching SmrtGuard to a New Smartphone.

The Question

I just switched to a new Android smartphone and want my existing SmrtGuard account to point to this new smartphone. How do I do that?

 

The Answer

If you are switching to a Android Phone, it’s quite simple! There are three things that need to be done:

1. Downloading and installing SmrtGuard on your new smartphone.

2. Updating your SmrtGuard account to reflect the new Smartphone Device Id.

3. Reactivating SmrtGuard on your new smartphone

Step 1: Downloading and Installing SmrtGuard onto Your Android Phone

You will first need to download and install the latest SmrtGuard version onto your new device. You can download the latest version via the mobile site: www.smrtguard.com/m or via the Marketplace.

Step 2: Updating Your SmrtGuard Account with Your New Device ID

You can update your SmrtGuard account via your smartphone or SmrtGuard Web Portal.

From your Smartphone:

    1. From the SmrtGuard device app's main menu, press the Android menu key and select the "Account Info" option

    2. Click on the "Switch to this phone" button

    3. Your mobile browser should open and direct you to a login page. Enter in your account user name and password.

    4. After logging in, your account will be updated with your current device id.

    5. Now go back to the "Account Info" page and click on "Reactivate". Follow the directions to reactivate on your phone.

 

From the SmrtGuard Web Portal:

    1. From your personal computer, log into SmrtGuard.com with your account information.

    2. Click on "Account" Tab

    3. In the Device Information section, click on "Switch/Edit Device".

    4. Assuming you are changing to a new Android device: Enter the new device id.

         • SmrtGuard lists your device id in the "Account Info" section.

    5. Go to SmrtGuard device app main menu and click on the Android Menu key and click on �My Account �.

    6. Select the "Reactivate" button.

    7. Follow the on-screen instructions to reactivate - you will need to enter your secondary email address along with your account password.
