How Can We Help?

I can't use the dashboard commands (locate, ping, lock, wipe)...What's wrong?

The Problem

I can't use the dashboard commands (locate, ping, lock, wipe)...What's wrong?

I also may or may not be getting an error message on the dashboard saying I need to register for location sevices on my phone. Why do I need to do that?

The Answer

With SmrtGuard for Android v3.50 and higher, your Android device must have the following three criteria:

1) Android 2.2 or higher

2) Have a valid google account registered to your phone,

3) And have Android Market installed on your phone.

If your device DOES meet the criteria above, there might have been a minor issue during activation. SmrtGuard uses Google's service to send commands from our server to your phone. This service requires that your phone be registered with Google's service before our commands can be pushed to your phone. During software activation, this registration occurs automatically, however in the unlikely event that the registration fails, you will need to manually register from your phone. To do this you will need to simply:

1) Open up the SmrtGuard app on the device.

2) Press the Android menu key and select "Options".

3) On the Options screen, press the Android menu key again and select "Register For Location Services".

If successful, you should get a brief popup saying you were registered successfully. At this point, you can start using SmrtGuard's dashboard commands to locate, track, ping, wipe your device.

If you meet all the criteria described above and still having issues getting the SmrtGuard remote commands to work, please contact us at support@smrtguard.com
