How Can We Help?

Audio ping does not provide a loud continuous sound. Why?

The Question

Audio ping does not provide a loud continuous "buzzing" sound. Why?

The Answer

We noticed that this issue is occurring primarily with OS 5.0 and particularly CDMA devices. The root cause is that there is a BB OS bug not being able to output the correct sound.

The workaround is to modify the sound profile that you are having trouble with such that any email that comes into your native email account will be silent. If you wish to have some feedback on the incoming messages, you can enable the vibrate.

Workaround Steps:

1) Click on the "Sounds" icon in the BB menu screen.

2) Go to "Edit Profiles" and select the profile that is giving you issues with audio ping (ex. normal, loud, medium)

3) Click on "Messages" and then click on your native BB email address that you created to use with SmrtGuard

4) When you see the email sound setting page, for the Ring Tone --> "Volume" setting, choose "Silent".

5) If you want to enable vibration when receiving an email in your native email inbox, change the Vibration --> "Vibrate" setting to "Always" or "Out of Holster". If you do not want incoming messages to vibrate, then skip this step.

6) Save settings and exit back to home screen.
